7 lesson covers:
What is Generative AI?
This module covers the basics of Generative AI (GenAI), including its definition, key features, and how it differs from traditional AI and machine learning. It also provides an overview of GenAI models for text, image, and audio generation, with a demo of text generation using ChatGPT to illustrate its capabilities.
Industry Use Cases and Business Impact
Explore how Generative AI (GenAI) is being applied across various industries, including media, healthcare, legal, education, and software. You will learn about common use cases such as content generation, summarization, code assistance, and idea generation. A group activity will follow, where participants will identify opportunities to implement GenAI within their own sectors, fostering practical understanding of its business impact.
Understanding the Technology
This module covers Large Language Models (LLMs), explaining how they are trained to learn from vast datasets. We will compare open-source vs. proprietary models (e.g., OpenAI, Meta, Google) and discuss the limits of GenAI, including issues like hallucinations, outdated knowledge, and reasoning challenges.
Hands-On With GenAI Tools
Learn how to write effective prompts to get the best results from Generative AI tools. We will cover using ChatGPT for writing, brainstorming, and research, followed by an introduction to image generation with tools like DALL·E and Midjourney. Additionally, an optional overview of AI copilots, such as GitHub Copilot and Notion AI, will highlight how these tools assist in tasks like coding and content creation.
Risks, Ethics, and Responsible Use
This module explores the ethical considerations and risks associated with Generative AI. Topics include bias in AI outputs, privacy and data protection concerns, and intellectual property issues around content ownership. We will also discuss responsible AI use in the workplace, emphasising how to mitigate risks and ensure ethical practices when integrating GenAI into business operations.
Skills, Roles, and Next Steps
Explore the evolving roles in the workforce as AI fluency becomes increasingly important across professions. You’ll learn key skills for effective AI collaboration, such as prompt engineering and data awareness. We’ll also cover how to stay current with GenAI tools, newsletters, and research. The module concludes with a final activity where you’ll draft a GenAI action plan tailored to your team or role, helping you integrate AI strategies into your work.
